I have not read the book, but this scene shows that, WOW, they actually talk! They call each other out, they argue, they know a lot about each other, they actually seem like friends! How wonderful is that! Pity there is source material that details the relationship so well, and they choose not to use it in the show. The show made it seem like Pen and Colin were somewhat friendly, but not at all like they used to be close friends and are crazy about each other.

I found the thruple scenes a lot sexier than the Polin scenes. There is WAAAAAY more chemistry between the actors than with Luke and Nicola. With the Polin sex scenes there's a feeling that the producers had problems with Nicola being a bigger girl. The way that, in the mirror scene, they have her literally covering her breasts as though she's ashamed of her body. It needed Colin to take her hands, so he can see her whole body and to express how gorgeous she is, but he doesn't and it spoils it because you have this woman hiding a body that isn't conventionally beautiful. Same with their reconciliation sex scene. Penelope is on top, and she's wearing a peignoir. Stop covering her up! She's gorgeous why can't we see it????

Benedict and Francesca have always been my favs cos i just relate to them on so many levels (especially francesca) and benedict's story in s3 is so heartbreaking for me for some reason. Also justice for John istg if he dies i will have to send a strongly worded email to Netflix

I think I read the books in middle school. The more I i listened to this video the more a part of my brain felt like it was being scratched. I've read so many books but I swear this was a series I had read. It's just been at least a decade since then.

The book Colin was problematic for his entitlement, but I agree with everything you said about the changes they made to these specific scenes. The book was mostly superior. And how dare they rob us of the meet cute?!?!?! 😡

Yes to all of this! One of the major differences between this season's love story and the previous two is the fact that Penelope and Colin already know each other, so there were opportunities to show how well they get along, the fact that they have a shared history, etc, but this dynamic just did not come across much to me in the show. The "lessons" and the realization of his attraction on Colin's part could just as easily happen between 2 people who have just met. (Narratively, these aspects slightly resemble Simon and Daphne in season 1, which is sort of friends-to-lovers too.) This issue overlaps with another complaint that I have (and that you've mentioned in another video): that S3 (especially part 1) doesn't show how Penelope's relationship to the Bridgerton family is so different from what we've seen of Simon's and Kate's (pre-marriage) interactions with the family. This again could have been a new angle and provide different opportunities for complicated relationship dynamics that we haven't seen on the show before. We got a little bit of it from the Pen/Colin/Eloise conflict, but if we had gotten more, then the payoff at the end of the season when Pen finally becomes a Bridgerton would have meant so much more.

I'm late to this particular party, but I only just finished watching S3, and all along I was expecting a momentous and risqué sex scene in front of a mirror because of all the emojis and other hype. I was so confused why it wasn't in the show, and then I find out it isn't even the books?! I'm even more befuddled about why the mirror has become such a symbol for Polin. And even more confused why the show didn't just do the mirror scene, given the opportunity to be so body positive.

I loved the vibe of s3 and it is my favoritt sesone, but can't help but feel like we did not get enough of Colin and Pen just be them together. I feel like they go so fast from friends, they have 2 scenes as lovers, than fighting and then suddely parents. I wanted them to have their moment of we are in love and we are finaly ecual.
